Probate Paralegal – Springfield

Job Overview
Bacon Wilson, P.C., one of the largest and most prestigious law firms in Western Massachusetts, is seeking a skilled paralegal to join our Probate team in our Springfield, MA office. This individual will assist with case planning and management, legal research, client meetings, fact gathering and information retrieval, document drafting and analysis, utilization of technical information, and making recommendations to an attorney for the best possible outcome for the clients.

Key Responsibilities

Report directly to the associate or shareholder attorney that represents the client. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist attorneys in managing probate and estate administration cases
  • Prepare and file legal documents related to probate matters
  • Conduct research and analysis of estate assets and liabilities
  • Coordinate with clients, beneficiaries, and financial institutions
  • Ensure compliance with Massachusetts probate laws and regulations, and sometimes Connecticut as well
  • Communicate frequently with clients
  • Speak with confidence to court staff and attorneys
  • Attend to executions of Wills and other estate-related documents
  • Keep records up to date as matters progress
Required Skills
  • Experience as a Paralegal
  • Proficiency in estate accounting and financial statement analysis
  • Strong knowledge of Massachusetts probate procedures
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Comfortable working independently with minimum supervision
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to learn and develop
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines and prioritize work
  • Appearing confident and well-presented
  • Ability to deliver accurate information and details
  • Good research and investigative skills
  • Comfortable working as part of a larger team
Pay: $26.00 – $31.00 per hour (salary is commensurate with experience)
